Delhi Capitals’ Shares Brutally Honest Social Media Post After Disappointing IPL 2026 Season

For the fifth consecutive year, Delhi Capitals (DC) failed to make it to the play-offs, finishing sixth in the points table with 7 wins and 7 defeats in 14 matches. The last time they came close to claiming the trophy was in 2021, and since then, they have achieved nothing significant to relish about.

A Season of Highs and Lows

The franchise staged multiple thrilling encounters and closely fought matches, including a 1-run margin loss to the Gujarat Titans on April 8, 2026. This narrow margin of error became a major roadblock in their journey, and they ultimately fell short of the play-offs by a couple of points.

Ahead of the next season, they have no option but to invent new ways to guide them to the winner’s podium. The franchise has shared an interesting video on its social media platforms, showing all of their players entering the dressing room, one by one, to reflect on their season.

A Unique Reflection Exercise

The video shows the players being asked to describe how their teammate’s season went and what they learned, with a surprise twist. The players were not aware that the object inside the dressing room, covered with a white cloth, was actually a mirror, meant to help them do self-scrutiny.

The exercise seemed to work, as the players expressed their honest assessments of their performance in the IPL 2026 season. David Miller was the first to realize that it was his photo behind the cover, and the setup helped the players to reflect on their individual performances.

Axar Patel, the skipper of the Delhi Capitals, acknowledged that they felt short by a margin, particularly in the first half of the tournament. “The way I thought, the first half of the tournament didn’t go that way. But it’s part of the game,” the DC skipper said.

KL Rahul, who scored 593 runs in 14 matches, was happy with his individual performance but expressed distress at another season without the IPL silverware. “I’m happy with what I’ve been able to achieve personally this season. One more season goes by without qualifying or giving myself or my team the opportunity to win that championship. Bittersweet feeling,” he said.

The Delhi Capitals’ social media post has gone viral, with fans appreciating the team’s honesty and willingness to reflect on their performance. As they look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign, the team will hope to use this exercise as a stepping stone to improve and come back stronger in the next season.
